Our Leadership Team

Chief Executive Officer
Eric Kussin is a leading global mental health advocate. As a keynote speaker, he presents programs and workshops on international stages, challenging the status quo and working to reform mental health messaging and improve access to resources. His clients range from the Dallas Cowboys and JP Morgan Chase to the US Military and Division 1 College Athletic Departments. However, Eric's career did not start in mental health.
A magna cum laude graduate of Cornell University and a walk-on to the Big Red basketball team, Eric spent 20 years as a professional sports executive. He began his career at the NBA's prestigious Team Marketing and Business Operations (TMBO) department. After five years with the League, he transitioned to team business, rising through the ranks with the expansion Chicago Sky and then the NBA's Phoenix Suns. He later switched to the NHL, working with the New Jersey Devils and eventually the Florida Panthers, becoming the League's youngest Chief Revenue Officer.
At the prime of his career, a debilitating mental health crisis brought Eric's life to a halt, lasting over two years and leaving him bed-bound throughout. After trying 52 different prescription medications, TMS, and ECT therapies without success, Eric discovered natural healing practices that enabled him to recover. This experience led him to find a higher calling, launching the non-profit #SameHere - The Global Mental Health Movement, at the end of 2017.
Using his own vulnerable storytelling, Eric recruited members for #SameHere's Global Alliance, comprising athletes, celebrities, media members, expert practitioners, advocates, and everyday heroes and encouraged them to share their own challenging life stories. The Alliance exists as a vehicle to make discussing mental health a common topic for everyone. Eric envisioned bringing together mental health and trauma experts to create a common language, resulting in the SameHere Scale and the STARR: Gym For The Brain. As CEO of 5in5, Inc., Eric is on a mission to provide these tools to people worldwide through educational programming and technology. He's the strategic visionary behind the organization's programming, marketing, and branding efforts.
Eric is also a "STARR Certified" coach for Regional Psychiatry and has been instrumental in introducing the SameHere Scale and Gym for the Brain concept to schools, offices, military bases, sports leagues, and corporate offices globally.
